Misconceptions about our microfiber towels

BREAKING MISCONCEPTIONS AND STEREOTYPES

People often associate certain ideas and stereotypes to microfiber towels, to polyester yarn, creating a mostly negative perception of these. However, not all microfiber towels are the same and, of course, not all the rumors are true.

ABSORPTION

People commonly think microfiber towels don’t absorb well when drying oneself. But it is the complete opposite. Our towels absorb three times their weight, getting less wet and getting dry five times faster than traditional ones. It just a matter of getting used to the fabric, the feeling and the way of drying.

SKIN'S REACTION

People believe synthetic materials aren’t good for one’s health and skin. However, synthetic materials can be just as good and just as bad as natural materials, they just have to be free of toxins. Therefore, it is tested that our microfiber towels are more hygienic than traditional ones, and you can tell by the touch itself. In fact, the OEKO-TEX certificate of our inks ensures they don’t contain harmful substances for humans, not even for babies.

SYNTHETIC MATERIALS

People usually think that synthetic microfiber, like polyester, is not eco-friendly at all. However, if the polyester is recycled (rPET), it is more sustainable than other materials. Its production process has a lower impact on the planet since waste is being reused and not created.

What else?

  • It helps achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
  • It generates 54% less CO2 emissions vs conventional polyester.
  • It requires 70% less energy consumption and a lot less water to produce.
  • It is a way to keep plastics out of landfills.
  • It is made with waste material, so it reduces our dependency on oil.

MICROPLASTICS

We know there’s a problem with microplastics and their effects on organisms and ecosystems. However, only around 35% of the microplastics in the ocean come from the washing process of synthetic clothes. Therefore, even though the amount our towels release during their first washes isn’t that considerable, we recommend using short programs and washing them after more than one use.
